Halloween!

Come one, come all!  Mauvais Lumiere’s first annual (because there WILL be a second one, right, guys?) Trick or Treating and Halloween Bash are set to begin!  I bring you news and rules to make for a happy holiday for everyone!

TRICK OR TREATING

We’re going to try out a really cool idea for this Halloween, and it’s super simple!  You go into another group member’s ask box and shout, “TRICK OR TREAT!”  Just beware, it’s not all treats that are up for grabs!  Ask box owners should find some way to choose whether their trick or treaters receive a trick or a treat, preferably random, like flipping a coin or rolling a die.  How do you get involved?  Easy!  You start trick or treating!  Once you’ve gone into someone’s ask box (this group account IS accepting trick or treaters), you’re saying that you’re open to trick or treaters yourself!

Tricks - Bestow upon your costumed kiddies a trick in the form of a curse, prompt or other predicament that they can play through or write a drabble/fic to.  The easy way to determine what kind of thing counts as a trick is to remember that it’s something the trick or treater gets to do.  These don’t have to ALL be used by the RPer at the same time (meaning you can queue them up and use them over a period beyond Halloween, if you need to, especially if they contradict each other or become complicated), nor do they have to be done specifically in RP or drabble form, unless specified in the trick itself.

Treats - Isn’t that wonderful?  What kind of treats would you like to come up with?  Doodles, drabbles, headcanon offerings and really anything that the ask box owner is willing to treat their kiddies with.  Need help figuring out treats?  Just keep in mind that it’s anything cute/cool/interesting that the ask box owner gets to do for the trick or treater.  Please try to make these prompt, and remember that they’re ‘treats’, so they can be small and quick.  

HALLOWEEN BASH

We were going back and forth about what to do about a Halloween party, and due to time zones and issues some members had with tinychat, we’ve decided to post the party here on tumblr.  How, you ask?  Easy enough!  I’ll supply the setting and a tag that you all should track between now and November 2nd (designed to include the Dia de los Muertos, as well), during which open threads can be posted for those attending!  Don’t be shy, and remember that it’s a costume party!  Feel free to post your own open thread into that tag, or to respond to other open threads!  Mingle!  Meet group members you haven’t talked to, yet!  Threads can, naturally, continue for as long as you’d like, but we’re setting the ‘time limit’ on the party and the tag in regards to posting new open threads.  If this system works out, we’ll try it out for Christmas, so give it a try and let me know what works and what doesn’t.  Make sense?  Have at it!  The tag is ‘Lumiere Halloween’.  Don’t forget to track it for the next week so that you see open threads as they appear! 

Deep in the woods, far from cities sounds and lights, is a clearing lit by faery lights of purple and orange, floating amongst the bare and jagged tree branches.  The floor is dirt, littered with the dead, fallen leaves of warmer days, and uneven tables have been set with ragged clothes and an impressive array of food and drink.  The music comes from everywhere and nowhere, sometimes ethereal and haunting, drawing a longing from deep within the hearts of its listeners, and sometimes loud and fast, bringing those present to their feet in a lively dance.

Halloween group event ideas?

So, I mentioned a Halloween event, and everyone seems to like the idea of a party and trick or treating.  Thus, I want input.

For the party, I’m debating between doing a tinychat party, which would be everyone IC in the tinychat, or we could rp it out in smaller groups/pairs on our blogs.  You guys need to let me know which one you prefer so I can set it up.

As for the trick or treating, what I’m thinking is that we’d do it through asks and you’d have to agree to be put on a list saying that your askbox is open to trick or treaters.  For each person who sends you an ask saying ‘trick or treat’, you’d be agreeing to either hand them a ‘trick’ (a curse/magic!anon-style condition/prompt/something that the trick or treater gets to do) or a ‘treat’ (a drabble/sketch/something the askbox’s owner gives out).  I would think you’d either flip a coin or roll a die to decide which it is to make it a little more of a surprise.  If this is something you guys want to do, then I’ll make a date to start it that gives people time to prepare some tricks and we’ll continue through the end of the month so that there’s time for treats to be handed out and tricks to be completed in a comfortable manner.  I need yes/nos on this one, so that I know who wants to do it.
